Incorporatewear Ltd Case Study

Incorporatewear Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wesfarmers – one of Australia’s largest listed companies. Incorporatewear has, for more than 15 years, been supplying inspirational corporate wear, work wear and staff uniforms across multiple market sectors, for a host of blue-chip clients. It is a preeminent corporate clothing supplier. The company can now boast a wearer base in excess of 350,000, shipping high quality staff uniforms and corporate wear across the UK, Europe and Worldwide.

As part of their continued growth and with the success of winning new contracts Stockrail was asked to assist in the design and implementation of a new Multi-tier storage system. A 25,000 square foot facility was sourced and within the design criteria the system was to be installed in 2 phases.

Phase 1 -

Within phase 1 Stockrail supplied 4 runs of picking aisles with a total of 2,000 pick faces with a gravity conveyor system for the operators to pack the uniforms into the outer boxes.

A temporary hanging garment storage system was also supplied consisting of 40 bays of our Diamond Rack system with our HangerGlide system servicing the racking. We also supplied temporary hanging goods in area with a platform and extendable boom system to link to the hanging racking. All the equipment supplied would be included in the fit out for phase 2.

Phase 2 -

Once the new M & S uniform rollout had completed Stockrail returned to site to re-configure phase 1 of the system to complete phase 2. The remaining area within the 25,000 square foot facility was installed with structure to create a storage system of over 200 bays on ground and 1st floor levels for storage of over 15,000 carton locations.

Walkways and structure to support the over sailing floor was installed in sections in order for the electrical contractor to follow us with their lighting and smoke detection systems. Also as part of the fire strategy a 1-hour fire enclosure was installed to the main access staircase.

The original shelving for the picking aisles was relocated to the 1st floor and replaced with 960 lanes of carton live storage. The bottom and top lanes were extended out where the gravity roller conveyor system is installed and levels 2 and 3 presentation shelves were installed for ease of picking from the cartons.

At the front of the multi-tier system Stockrail installed a 2-tier mezzanine floor for the accumulation of pallets prior to being decanted and put away. The floors were accessed via 6 pallet gates supplied. These floor heights married to the height of the 1st floor walkway and the over sailing floor so operators can access directly from the walkways onto the mezzanine floors. A spiral chute was supplied to transfer cartons from the 1st and 2nd floors directly down to the picking aisles.

Ontop of the over sailing floor the phase 1 hanging system was relocated and extended to over 250 bays of our Diamond Rack system to create a hanging storage area of in excess of 100,000 garments with all the bays serviced with our HangerGlide rail system. Two conveyor systems were installed to transfer garments up to / down from the mezzanine floor.

Above the offices Stockrail decked out an area of 1,250 square feet on top of the concrete ceiling with flooring grade chipboard supported on steel joists. This area would be utilised as a sewing area for repair to uniforms and it is connected to the 1st floor walkways via 2 bridges for operator access.
